GUIDELINES
This page will go through what is expected from you whether you're doing a 2-minute flash talk as a first year or a poster and presentation as second, third, and fourth years.

Flash Talks
All new first year students will give a two-minute flash talk, introducing themselves and more importantly, their projects.
The guidelines are as follows:
-
One slide lasting two minutes ONLY. You may present anything you wish on the one slide. Flash talks will be kept strictly to time, and there will be no questions.
-
Things you may want to include: giving the audience a (very) brief background to your project, some basic aims, your plan moving forward, and your journey to starting your PhD.
-
Please submit this as a PowerPoint file as all presentations will be compiled into a single slide deck.

Presentations
Students may give an 8-minute talk on part of their work so far (this can be on anything the student wishes as long as it is their own research). This will be followed by 2 minutes for questions from the audience.
The guidelines are as follows:
-
Talks are allowed as many slides as the speaker wishes, however talks will be kept strictly to the 8-minute time limit.
-
Please present in roughly the format of a scientific presentation, including Background, Methods, and Results.
-
If you don't want photos taking of your slides, please display a no photography sign in the bottom right of each slide.
-
Please submit this as a PowerPoint file as all presentations will be compiled into a single slide deck.
